Well, today was generally uneventful. Therefore I shall spare you readers and myself from the boring front part of the day. Everything was fine, just that we had two continual assignments (C.A. a.k.a. class tests), Chemistry and Mathematics. Not much problem for either of them, now we can screw those papers, the C.A. is over! The main part of the action started from our Form Teacher Contact Time (FTCT).
Miss Soh, our co-form teacher was late. Well, she has always been punctual and this time when she was late, definitely suspicious. As we all know, there is a reason behind her lateness. It is because she heard from some other teachers who saw a couple from our class kissing at the traffic light, or was it the junction? Heck, I cannot remember, lets not bother about the trivial details. I can already guess who it is. Well, I would not name any names on my blog, as this is the Internet, something that can cause a great hullabaloo in the nation as the influence of the Internet is growing to a frightening issue. Everyone knows that the Internet is a current fixation and the Internet has evolved to almost a daily necessity for many. Even I, feel out of sorts when I do not surf a few blog sites and some game websites, etcetera. So Miss Soh told us that anything we do outside school is not her business but when we’re wearing uniforms, it becomes her business. Sometimes I really do ponder on the questions, “Are teachers having too much stress trying to manage problematic students? ” I think that being a teacher is a very arduous profession. First you have to mark all of the homework you issue your students. 41 students have to do a SINGLE piece each while 1 teacher has to mark 41 PIECES of work. Furthermore, some students refuse to hand in their homework and they remain recalcitrant about the subject matter. Wow, I have digressed so much. Well, back to the main track, it is very palpable that who are the “culprits”. After that, she talked about some other business, which I believe isn’t a good thing to write about on the Internet and share with other schoolmates about what she said.
After the long homily we got during FTCT, it was time for Assembly. Time for us to watch and enjoy the air-conditioned hall in Singapore’s sweltering weather. The first item was a song by our school’s Chinese Orchestra (CO). OH MY GOODNESS!! What is up with the horrible and evident flaws that stuck out by a mile! Ok, kindly let me elaborate. The moment the orchestra started, the drum did a wrong tempo count, so did the conductor, the whole piece was done haphazardly. By the way it was a student conductor. Next, many of the CO members played without making the mark. It was horrible, they didn’t manage to hold on till the next note when they were, thus going off suddenly or making a slight squeak, which isn’t really evident. But if the whole group people playing the same instrument lose control at the same time, it is bloody obvious. And a lot of the CO instruments were not tuned. Acknowledge a tuner please; get your instruments on tune and not sound like some hoax gone wrong. How they ever pulled off a gold in the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) 05’ remains a big query. Well, the 2nd piece is a lot better, but still horrible. Then here comes the problem of off beat again. They played off beat when the middle of the song drew near, very evident. Then the 3rd song, they reverted to their stupid ways of playing the instrument by trying to hold out as long as possible and died off only 5 seconds after the conductor stopped the performance. Glad they finally stopped. Not obeying a conductor, death punishment!! Humph! Was I glad when the whole performance was over.
For the moment we’ve all been anticipating, the 2nd aesthetics group, the dance club!! Yea! Albeit I’m not inside the dance club, I like the way they dance a lot, and I actually admire them, for what reason I don’t know. Maybe the way they move is so sleek?
Ok, I didn’t like the first dance item, it wasn’t good. There was this person who looked liked Maxine so we called her the MI(Maxine Impersonator). Lets scrutinize the dance item and then point out the mistakes.
- The performance wasn’t good, the steps were simple and unrefined.
- The dance item wasn’t synchronized, there was not a single hint of synchronization throughout the WHOLE dance item.
- They had funny sticks, which were supposed to be part of the dance item, enhance the ambience, which apparently didn’t help but mar the whole thing.
- Ok, now that we’ve pointed out three of the most obvious problems. Lets proceed onto the smaller details:
1. The MI had uneven eyebrows, obviously one thick one thin.
2. One of the Malay girls in the front row(whose name I don’t know) had shoes on the wrong feet.
Hmm, seems like we’ve got everything, now lets proceed to the second dance item which was fantastic, I loved it.
The 2nd dance item was great, kindly let me elaborate. The whole dance was synchronized, albeit Marlisa looked weird while Charlene was carrying her, the rest of the dance steps was executed with acute precision. Many of the steps were complex and hard to execute. The final formation in a pyramid with 2 at the front spreading out to 5 at the back was meticulously precise. (Do not ask me why did I use two words simultaneously when they mean the same thing. According to Literature, Repetition serves as Emphasis, thus I’m emphasizing the fact that the whole formation was good and precise.) Albeit the funny costume and awkward colour matching, the whole dance was carried out in unblemished perfection. Chee Yang was good on stage, but he was rather stiff and rigid, but that was hardly unnoticeable, you guys were great on stage and extra credit goes to Chee Yang and the other lower Secondary performers. Such a few number of Lower Secondary Students performing with the preponderance of seniors and furthermore, the stage was so dominated by an overbearing amount of senior dancers.
Well the assembly programmes were generally passable but the senior dance item was the thing that made my day. By the way, the “cookies'n'crème” who tagged on Chee Yang’s blog was not me. The last post I made was the spelling error of retarded. If those who read the tag entry and is so recalcitrant on the fact that that “cookies'n'crème” who tagged is me, I have nothing to say. As for the Impersonator of me, Please, if you have the courage to talk about people, criticize people, I wish that you have the gall to own up as well, write your own name, stop trying to get me into trouble by using my name. I'd never say something like that about my own friend and what you're trying to do is futile as I have utmost faith in my friends. Taint yourself for all I care, but PLEASE do not taint my identity of cookies'n'crème, thank you very much. Please have the gall to own up and prove me wrong, you cowardly apronstrings-tied boy.
